PRESS RELEASE

Following the January resignation of Queensland Taxi Drivers Assoc. President, Michael Powell, an extraordinary general meeting of the Assoc. was held on the 27th of February in order to elect his successor.

Paul Henderson was elected as the new President of the QTDA Inc.

Mr. Henderson has been a cab driver for 14 years, a long term active member of the QTDA, and a well known advocate for the betterment of the appalling and unfair conditions faced by Queensland's exploited Cabbies. He is a passionate advocate for social justice for all Australians and is a well known and respected for his political activism in this field.

The QTDA is pleased that it was able to find such a capable and knowledgeable replacement for Michael Powell after Michael found his position as President made untenable by sections of the industry concerned with maintaining their dominant position in setting the conditions under which Bailee Drivers have to work.

The QTDA welcomes Paul Henderson’s election and offers him its full support in the difficult role he is taking on.

For further comment please contact Mr. Henderson on the numbers above listed.

Yours Sincerely,

Roger McIntyre

Vice Pres. QTDA Inc.
